The Tools4Work Level 2 resources provide a range of foundation skills and knowledge for secondary school students interested in mechanical engineering and related trades. The credits from the completed unit standards may be used towards the first stages of an apprenticeship or as the basis for a polytech pre-trade course.

The Level 2 resources are particularly relevant for students wishing to pursue careers in general engineering, machining, toolmaking, fitting, engineering maintenance, fabrication and marine engineering.

The Level 2 units featured in the Tools4Work resource material are part of the Competenz Level 2 National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (NCME) and can lead on to trade qualifications in Mechanical Engineering at Levels 4 and 5 on the National Qualifications Framework, and ultimately to the National Diploma in Engineering at Level 6.

The Tools4Work Level 2 Mechanical Engineering resource materials are based on the most appropriate unit standards for schools.
