A. Competenz offers a range of approximately 60 qualifications covering 15 different industry sectors.

Q. What Level 1 unit standards does the Tools4Work resource material cover?
A. The Level 1 resource covers the following unit standards:
US 22923; Demonstrate basic engineering skills under close supervision.
US 22924; Develop a simple product using engineering materials.
US 22926; Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures

Q. What Level 2 unit standards does the Tools4Work resource material cover?
A. The Level 2 resource covers the following unit standards:
US 2387 Assemble mechanical components under supervision
US 2395 Select, Use and Care for Engineering Hand Tools
US 2396 Select, use and maintain portable hand held power tools.
US 2430 Draw and Interpret Sketches.
US 2432 Construct Engineering Plane Geometric Shapes
US 20917 Demonstrate Basic Knowledge of Engineering Materials
US 21905 Demonstrate Knowledge of Trade Calculations and Units
US 21908 Demonstrate Knowledge of Basic Mechanics
US 4433 Select, Use and Care for Simple Measuring Devices
US 4435 Select, Use and Care for Engineering Measuring Equipment
US 4436 Select, Use and Care for Engineering Marking-out Equipment

IMPORTANT NOTE: Other Unit Standards are required to complete the full Mechanical Engineering Level-2 National Certificate.

Q. How does the new licensing system work?
A. There is a new system of user licensing for Tools4Work resources Level 1 resource materials remain FREE for 2009.
Level 2 resource materials now cost $35 per unit resource used, which is applicable to the units initially selected on the Tools4Work order form. Usage will be verified annually using NZQA unit credits reporting information.


Q. What qualifications does Tools4Work offer?
A. Tools4Work offer a Level 1 National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET).
